MEmbrane Modulation for BiopRocess enhANcEment
This 36-month ERA-CoBioTech (https://www.cobiotech.eu/) project sees five leading research institutes and two large industry partners, across five countries, collaborate, and validate at pilot scale, in order to engineer robust cell factories (yeast and Propionibacterium) that overcome existing toxicity challenges, improve product yield and allow their effective commercialisation. The strategies developed within this project will be applicable across the sector to facilitate rational strain engineering and fermentation optimization with far-reaching benefits.
International network for translating research on perinatal derivatives into therapeutic approaches
Over the past decade different perinatal tissues have been shown to harbor a vast array of stem cells with therapeutic potential. This relatively new field of research is rapidly expanding, and its relevance is supported by the recent emergence of clinical trials in Europe and worldwide. There are, however, many issues that need to be addressed to ensure optimal research outcome and clinical experimentation data interpretation. There is also the necessity to identify gaps in knowledge and how collaborative research can address them. This COST Action will unite a currently fragmented critical mass of academic, clinical, and industry expertise to enhance both basic understanding and translational potential of perinatal derivatives. The Action will develop a platform for the exchange of concepts, methods, and training of young researchers.
Remembrane data management system and knowledge base
The main objective of this project was the development of an integrated data management system, allowing complex data input to be filed and processed, thus obtaining valuable outputs that can guide the development of new Remembrane products. The core of the project was the design and implementation of the Remembrane LipidOmicsBase (RLoB) platform, through the collaboration with the software house DoubleStrand Bioinformatics. The RLoB system provides an appropriate storage, analysis and extrapolation of complex data, consolidating Remembrane as market leader in cell culture membrane lipidomics.
